Off Center

The things people say about Diana!

Her ex-husband swears that she buys more underwear than anyone! Her best friend Claudia always binges after their competitive shopping excursions, and is beginning to wonder why.

Her brother’s sick of her little “game” of filching books of his checks and overdrawing his account. She and her sister-in-law never got along, but the sister-in-law expects payback of a favor, for a change.

Diana’s lover considers her a nice interlude, but not much more. Her trust officer calls her a nutcase. Turns out, they’re the same guy.

Give credit where credit is due – Diana is absolutely stunning, and no one, least of all she herself, would say otherwise. And she did found Inheritance Unlimited, a group to extend the rights of those like herself who inherit, big time. But even timid group member Lucy can’t understand how such a bitchy woman gets so many boyfriends.

One Tuesday afternoon, the best friend, a pizza delivery guy, and one of the crew remodeling Diana’s kitchen find her, shot dead, The Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant by her side.

That evening, live on the Six O’Clock News, the pizza guy blasts a reporter for her sensationalized coverage of the killing. By the next morning, reaction to Diana’s death has gone viral, with outpouring sympathy and indignation on talk radio and an impromptu demonstration outside the television station.

In this satire wrapped around a murder, there’s disappearance, self-help, mistaken identities, romance, fraud, food, embezzlement, a murder mystery weekend getaway for single senior citizens, and a motley crew of unusual characters. As Diana’s friends and family do their best to help or impede the investigation, everyone has something to say, some of it relevant, some of it even true.

Will misunderstandings be straightened, old scores settled? Will justice be, more or less, served? Will true love win out over all? And will you ever learn who actually killed Diana?
